She's still got it!

And by "it", I mean cheeks. As is evident in this photo, the cheeks are still there.

We had her check up today and it went well. She is 22 lbs 11 oz and 31 inches tall! She is really tall! :) No teeth yet and dr said at her 15 month (2 months from now) check up if she still doesn't have any we will talk to a specialist. I am not worried yet, but Steve is concerned. She got 3 shots and is so far doing fine. We gave her pizza after, so that makes everything better.

Still no word on the house closing. It doesn't look like it is going to happen this week again. Big shocker!

And the waiting continues.

So, we are still here...waiting. Another week. We hope that this will be that last week of waiting, at least waiting for this. We are set to close Friday at 1:30 but we will see if that happens. If it does we are both ready to jump in and start getting ready to clean and paint. My parents are planning (for the 4th weekend in a row) to take Laila. Every week comes and goes and we have to say...not this week..how about next weekend?

I start class this week. I have a class on Saturday from 8- 11 am, which i am not looking forward to being functional at that hour. But, it has to be done! It is a macroeconomics class so I am excited for that, I really enjoy economics.

Laila is so close to walking these days! Grandma Pam bought her a little toy that she can ride/scoot along and it also lifts up to be a walk-along toy. She CRUISES on that thing. Get out of her way or suffer the consequences of broken toes.

She was 13 months old yesterday and STILL NO TEETH! Yikes! I am sure she is tired of eating semi mushy foods or very small chunks of not smushy foods. We have talked about it and she is getting ready to show some pearly whites soon she says.

We are going to the doctor on Wednesday for her 1 yr check up. It is a month late and the funny thing is that I made the appointment in the beginning of June. It was the ONLY time they could get me in with the Dr. that I wanted at the time I wanted. Oh well, delaying the shots is not so bad...but they inevitable come along no matter how far away you make the appointment.
Laila is such a good baby I am just waiting for the switch to flip and have the crazy kid that I hear everyone else has. She is such a blessing and we are so very lucky.

Steve is doing well. He has been running again and is sad that baseball is winding down. He is all geared up for football though. They sure do make these transitions easy in the world of sports, don't they? Not a day without something to talk about. ::rolls her eyes:: It makes him happy, and that is all that I can ask for sometimes! We all need our escape.

I'll keep you updated on the housing situation but right now Steve needs to talk to me about the Mt Dew commercial where ferrets attack people with a chainsaw?? I think he needs my devoted attention. Being married is so fun and amusing sometimes. :)

We have the house blues....

We are STILL waiting to close on our house.
It is taking forever and we keep getting SO close, just to have it pushed off another week.
....and another week.
.......and another week.
..........and another week.

You get the idea. It is "suppose" to done by this Friday (Aug 21st) but who knows what to believe anymore. I think I am just anxious because it is just creating a whole new set of issues. After we close then we have to deal with the renovation of the house, which is never fun. We have had some issues with contractors already and may be switching to a new one before they even start working. I just am not sure it is worth the hassle of giving them a shot when they cannot even be counted on to sign a form. You know?

Steve and I are both at the ends of our respective ropes. We are trying to remain kind and remember that it is almost over, but it is hard. Work stress, house stress, family stress ...it all piles up. We haven't have a repreive from it.....oh.....ever. We are both looking forward to moving into our OWN house. No one else around. No roomates, no extended family....just me, Steve and Laila. Maybe a dog. No one else.

Scott and Tanya were in town for a few days, it was nice to see them. Laila got a great gift from The Disney Store from her auntie and uncle. A cute pair of pjs and a Laila size Minnie Mouse stuffed animal. She loves it! Thanks again, guys!

We are counting down 3 months until our trip to see Dan, Monique and new baby Olivia (due mid-November.) I apologize, the exact date escapes me. Also, I am counting down 7 weeks until Christine comes for her annual visit to Minnesota! I miss her so much! :)

Ok, now I have to check all my blogs that I follow. :)

(side note: mom, we love you and we are grateful everyday for your generosity of letting us stay with you! don't be sad, we will be closer than you think!)

Adventures in Bathland.

I was reminded of a funny story today at work.
Last week I was running a bath for Laila and it had about 3 inches of water in it, along with copious amount of bubbles.
She often stands at the end of the tub and watches the water rise and the bubbles brew.
This particular night was not business as usual.
She was extremely excited by the bubbles that were growing and the splashing water.
I turned to get her towel and soap off the counter right behind me and I heard the squeal mixed with a grunt.
I turned back around just in time to watch her slip over the side of the tub, right into the bath...fully clothed.
I scooped her up within a millisecond and couldn't help but laugh.
Bubbles all over her face and hair, only the front half of her clothes soaked.
What a silly sight she was, and the biggest smiled mixed with confusion on her face.

My heart did stop for a beat when i saw her slide in, but it did remind me that we can't leave those little people alone for ONE moment!
They are crazy daredevils!
I hope that I never forget this memory, it is one of my favorites so far. :)

Update!

We have been extremely neglectful in our blogging duties. For that, I am sorry! We have had a whirlwind month and can hardly believe it is already august.

Just this past week we have been to two ( yes 2!) Twins games! Laila loves it and really does well! She gets excited at the right times and even does the wave! :)

The housing situation is on track, despite the best efforts of the mortgage company. Uggh no one ever said it would be this hard to buy ANYTHING! Oh well, we should be closing by August 10th (we hope). We will be remodeling the kitchen, new carpet, new windows, new furnace and some plumbing work. So we hope to be in by Labor Day. We did notice that they took the for sale sign out of the front yard so that is encouraging!

I am actually writing this post as we sit at the most boring baseball game ever..and we are losing by a ridiculous amount of runs. I figured my time will be better spent blogging on my blackberry. Steve still hasn't asked what I am doing, which I find amusing.
Birthday week has come and gone for the second time. Laila's 1st birthday was a bittersweet day for me. Happy that she is growing up but sad that she is growing up.

My birthday was nice. Steve took me out to dinner the night before and we went out drinking on my birthday. Steve taught me to play shuffle board and guess what, I'm not even terrible!

Let's seeee...what else?!? I don't think anything really that eventful has happened aside from lailas birthday and just waiting on the house. So with that said, I will get back to the game!
